What I Wore: Halloween 2022

Halloween is for the fashion lovers. IYKYK. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because I like piecing together costumes that nod to my favorite media (usually going the film route.) I embodied 3 different “glam” versions of some of my fave characters—Nina from Black Swan, Thorn from The Hex Girls from Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost, and Sweeney Todd from Sweeney Todd. (+ a bonus “costume” from a 70’s event I attended pieced together mostly from my closet!) I included the three main staples for each costume but mainly just want to share with my fellow Halloween lovers.

  • Black crown (handmade!*)

  • Black feather top

  • Black tutu

*Which I am very proud of because it, surprisingly, took a long time hot gluing all those feathers and gems on.

Thorn from The Hex Girls from Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost

  • Black dress

  • Black wig

  • Dark makeup

(+an amazing night out with friends!)

Sweeney Todd from Sweeney Todd

  • Black vest

  • Black striped pants

  • Black wig (altered!*)

*Which I am not proud of because I did it super lazily at 3am and, unknowingly, in the beginning stages of COVID! lol

70’s Lady (Minnie Riperton-inspired)

  • BIG 70’s hair (wig or styled)

  • Psychedelic shall

  • Dreamy floral dress

I’m down bad missing spooky season but I’m also looking forward to the remainder of the year! Once Halloween ends, I become hyperaware of the short amount of time left in the year and find myself reflecting on all I’ve accomplished and what I have left to complete. I told someone recently in a phone convo that I feel like I’ve LIVED this year. I told them, “I feel like I’ve lived more in this one year than I have the past five years!” While that’s cool and all, I also just, like, really want to rest. (Where’s my Dracula coffin?? lol.) Anyway, I’m already looking forward to next Halloween and what the overall mood for that Halloween szn will be! This time around, I’m hoping for more gags than ghosts, but I just roll with the ideas as they come/whatever feels right in the moment!

See all you ghouls, goblins, & creatures of the night next year. <3
